SELECT SURF REPORT:
Surf Training > Core Training > The Front Plank

This is a very basic exercise that if done on a regular basis will improve core strength. During paddling, core strength is essental, it can be done with the Swiss ball or without. By raising one leg, holding and pausing for 5 to 10 seconds, and then repeating with the other leg, you can advance the exercise.

For example, as your strength improves, repeat 5 times, holding for 30 seconds. Then add 5 to 10 seconds per set.
Every 4 weeks, record your fitness by holding for as long as possible and timing.

Guidelines
  1. Keep your back straight.
  2. Hold the head in line with your trunk to avoid straining the neck.
  3. Squeeze your buttocks together.
  4. Tighten abdominal muscles to maintain balance.
  5. Hold for 30 seconds before repeating
For maximum benefits, this exercise should be included in a balanced fitness program, and repeated three or four times per week.
